Donnie Darko…no spoilers

That movie? Wow.

I didn’t find it confusing at all. I found it extremely intriguing and the theme was so simple. At the same time, it allowed people to use a bit of imagination to bring out the full, complex meaning of it all. Yeah, I’m sure it’s “up for interpretation” or whatever, and I guess you can use reasoning to prove your point of view. But if you really take each and every word said in that movie and try to understand it, it becomes clear that this is a movie not meant to inspire viewers to create their own meaning, but rather to use their minds to find connection and interpret the symbols to convey the messages that were specifically given to this movie.

I am hesitant to give out my views cause (in my opinion) there’s nothing more beautiful in a generation of people who want everything handed to them than personal analysis of a work of art such as a good book or film. No, it’s not something you can just make up. It’s a truth hidden within the context. The theme and “what its about” isn’t the most important part of the process: what matters most is the understanding of symbols using instinct and a deeper knowledge of human life, the acceptance of fact yet the awareness of emotion…teaches us more about ourselves and therefore brings us to a better understanding of complex ideas such as the ones presented in this movie and many other beautiful works of expression.

The themes are so simple. Basic. But the message that lies beneath, that beauty is within the journey to the end.

Excuse my passionate rambling. It’s 5:30 am, and I’m absolutely thrilled. <3
